Participating in an Event

This is a brief summary of participant responsibilities. For the complete text click on this link.

CORE General Participant Guidelines:

  • At least four participants required for an event to be official.
  • Stay with the group at all times unless Trip Coordinator has organized sub groups.
  • Wait for EVERYONE at all junctions or pre-arranged stopping points.
  • Remain at trailhead until whole group has returned, unless other arrangements with Trip Coordinator have been made.
  • Carpool passengers are expected to pay drivers based on carpool cost guidelines.
  • Guests may attend only with coordinator approval, a signed waiver, appropriate gear, and full responsibility taken by the inviting member.

Leave No Trace 7 Principles

Plan Ahead and Prepare: Research regional regulations, track local weather, and package food to minimize trash.

Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces: Stick to designated trails, dry grass, or rock, and pitch camp layout setups at least 200 feet from natural water sources.

Dispose of Waste Properly: Pack out all garbage and food scraps, and bury human waste in proper cat holes dug 6 to 8 inches deep.

Leave What You Find: Examine but avoid touching cultural relics, and leave local rocks, native vegetation, and historical artifacts completely untouched.

Minimize Campfire Impacts: Cook meals using compact camp stoves, use designated fire rings, and burn firewood down to cold ash.

Respect Wildlife: Keep a safe distance from wild animals, avoid feeding them, and store food rations securely.

Be Considerate of Other Visitors: Yield the path to other trail users, avoid loud noises, and let natural sounds prevail.

Participant Code of Conduct

Members must act respectfully and safely at all times, following the Trip Coordinator’s final decisions regarding participation. Any disrespectful, unsafe, or harassing behavior may result in removal from an event or dismissal from the club.
